Feeling a lack of family community here in the Netherlands? If so, you are not alone. According to Dutch reports, IOB and Decicio, this has been one of the common complaints of expat families. There often is the sense that they are not offered services that cater to the needs of their family.
Frequently, expat contacts are limited to resources within work and schools, leaving much to be desired and required. With the challenges of parenting, marriage, work, credit cards and a mortgage, where do you find real solutions? Where do you go when you are in need of additional support and services?
Building on the strengths of our community practitioners are stepping up and taking action to provide a solution based initiative, setting the premise for the 2009 Expat Family Support Services Survey. In collaboration with the Hague University, practitioners Brandi McCollum, Cognitive Behavioral Consultant M.Ed., of Family Centered Consulting Services (FCCS) and Deirdre Budd, Sleep Consultant R.G.N. H.V. Dip.R., of Dream Angus have set out to take the pulse of the current needs of expat families in our community and accessibility of these services. The survey provides a platform to expat families to voice their concerns and desires for family and community services.
Let your voice be heard! Starting the 2nd week of April, participate in the Survey.
If you want to contribute to the survey or participate in follow-up community interviews contact FCCS.
